How Trove researches and updates its guides

Who is responsible for the guides, which sources we use, where AI assists the work, and how to report a correction.

Responsibility

The guides and FAQs on this site are published by the Yaysoft LTD editorial team. They are educational material for identifying and researching objects; they are not signed professional appraisals. The publisher is responsible for corrections and can be reached at yayapps+trove@gmail.com.

Research method

1. Start with the object evidence. We separate material, construction, marks, decoration, condition and provenance rather than treating one visual match as identification.
2. Prefer primary and authoritative sources. Museum collection records, archives, assay offices, legislation, standards bodies, manufacturers’ historical records and conservation institutes take priority over marketplaces and unsourced mark lists.
3. Cross-check consequential claims. Dates, legal standards, mark meanings and attribution claims are checked against the linked source and, where the claim warrants it, a second independent source.
4. State uncertainty. A mark can be copied, a style can be revived and a value can vary by market. Guides distinguish what a clue supports from what it cannot prove.

How AI is used

AI tools may assist with research discovery, drafting, translation and structure. A model’s answer is never treated as a source. Factual claims are kept only when they can be checked against the cited page or record. We do not claim that AI-generated estimates replace physical inspection or a qualified appraiser.

Translations

Native-language editions are researched for their market and use local institutional sources where possible; they are not English pages published under a translated URL. Language tools may assist drafting, but citations, numbers, names and the meaning of limitations are checked independently. If wording in a translation is unclear, the cited source remains the evidence and the English editorial team remains responsible for correction.

Updates and corrections

Each guide prints its last-updated date and exposes the same date in structured data. We update a guide when a source moves, a rule changes, a material error is reported or stronger evidence becomes available. Promotional changes alone do not rewrite editorial conclusions.

To report an error, email yayapps+trove@gmail.com with the page URL, the sentence in question and, if possible, the source that contradicts it. We review corrections against the underlying evidence rather than silently accepting or rejecting them.
