Reading Canadian silver
Canada has no compulsory assay system either, so dating rests on the maker rather than on an office. A quality mark such as STERLING or 925 states the standard but not the year; the retailer or silversmith’s mark is what narrows the date. Trove treats the maker’s mark as the dating evidence and says so when it cannot narrow further.
